About Spicy J's

Spicy J’s is a family-owned and operated restaurant that opened in Fresno in 2018. The owners, Jack and Jenny, wanted to bring their passion for Asian cuisine to the Central Valley and offer a unique dining experience to the community. The restaurant’s interior is warm and inviting, with exposed brick walls, cozy booths, and dim lighting that creates a romantic ambiance.

The Menu

One of the things that sets Spicy J’s apart is its menu. It offers a fusion of traditional Asian dishes with a modern twist, incorporating fresh and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Some of the most popular items on the menu include:

Spicy J’s Wings: Crispy chicken wings tossed in a spicy soy glaze and garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Ramen: A hearty bowl of noodles, broth, and toppings like sliced pork belly, soft-boiled egg, and green onions.

Orange chicken: Sweet and tangy Chinese-American dish made with battered and fried chicken pieces coated in a sticky orange-flavored sauce.

Kung Pao Chicken: Tender pieces of chicken stir-fried with peanuts, vegetables, and a spicy sauce.

Pork Buns: Steamed bun filled with seasoned pork and often accompanied by various vegetables, such as scallions, and condiments such as hoisin sauce.

Pot Stickers: Dumplings that are typically stuffed with meat and vegetables.

The menu also includes vegetarian and vegan options, as well as gluten-free choices for those with dietary restrictions. If you’re not sure what to order, the friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to make recommendations.

Tried this for the first time as I am passing through and it was absolutely incredible. Exceeded all my expectations! The lamb dry pot was delicious and flavorful. 辣子鸡was very crispy and tender. Eggplant was on point and the tofu was cooked to perfection. On top of everything, the server was very friendly and attentive!

This place is so yummy everything came out hot and fresh. We had a 15 minute wait, which wasn’t bad at all. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. We had the crab and avocado spring rolls for our appetizer. They were amazing! I could of had them as a meal. Then we had Singapore chow Mei fun with a salad. This was some of the best chow mei fun I’ve ever had, the rice noodles and Curry made it perfect. Then we had the orange chicken with hot and sour soup with pan fried noodles. I was shocked by how good the orange chicken was, normally I stay away from it but it was great. The hot and sour soup here is the best I’ve ever had, lot of yummy flavor. 10/10 would recommend!

Absolutely amazing atmosphere. Our waitress was so kind and attentive, and even the owner was very interactive with the guests. The food was amazing and fulfilling. You definitely get way more than you pay for, which, for me, is a good thing, lol. This is our third time here, and we will definitely be back.

The food was alright not the best Chinese. Overpriced is what it is I got the surf and turf and it was good my wife got the seafood delight and it was flavorless lacked lots of seasoning on the shrimp lobster and veggies. The fried calamari was delicious though, Couldn't get enough of that one. The service was beyond great she did her part in making sure all was well and was quick with the refills. I'd go again but try something else. 6.5/10

I’m officially a fan! I’ve been here about three times now. I went to the soft opening and I came around Dec 2022 and I’m not going to lie, I was not impressed. BUT I came back recently in January 2023 (because I won a gift card for leaving a review in December) and let me tell you- I was blown away at how delicious everything was! I came with my sisters and friends and tried a bunch of stuff. My personal favorites and the reason I came to spicy J in the first place is the Szechuan they use in their food, it’s spicy but not spicy and it makes your mouth numb. The Szechuan won tons, chicken and eggplant were so good! This is where I’ve had the best kung pao chicken, I usually don’t care for kung pao but this one is so good. I tried their vinegar pork ribs and I loved it too. For vegetarians I totally recommend the tempura fries, eggplants, and for the appetizer I love the salad. It was my sisters birthday and they brought out a gong and they sang happy birthday in Cantonese. They brought out a fried banana egg roll dessert to share and it was delicious. (And free) lol then they let her hit the gong for luck and prosperity. There were a couple more plates I forgot to take a picture of and it was too late because we tore it up but I tried to upload as much as I could. I can officially say I love this place and I am ready to go back.
