Golden Bull is one of my favorite restaurants for Chinese food. I ordered take-out and the food was cooked by the promised time and was an appropriate temperature. The dishes that I ordered were: Walnut Shrimp, Eggplant in Special Garlic Sauce, Tenderloin Steak cooked with Black Pepper Sauce, Mandarin Pork Chop, Stir Fried Lotus Root and Mixed Vegetables, Farmer’s Chicken, and an order of Egg Rolls. Everything that I ordered, I would recommend. The food was hot, except for the Farmer’s Chicken which was served cold. Rice is included with the dishes and is a perfect vehicle for absorbing the saucy dishes. A good thing about this restaurant is that they offer both a small and large option, which gives you flexibility to order specific portions. If you’re ever looking for a good place to eat in Chinatown, consider eating here at Golden Bull.

Recently I've been eating here and their stand-out dish is a rice casserole, baked in a clay pot. They used whole cuts of free-range chicken and sausage with soy sauce. The clay pot and the meats are slow-cooked, while the rice absorbs all of the fragrant and savory meat flavors. The rice is still sticky, with a nice crus on the outside, and makes for a wonderful dish. Are you drooling yet? It's called Bo jai faan, and I've eaten it twice this month. For sure it's a great dish to share with friends, especially on a chilly winter night. Golden Bull generally has solid service, you can order in Chinese or English. The other dishes I have tried recently are decent, but they are my new go-to for this casserole.

UPDATE: Recently had dinner with 7 other people. They no longer serve complimentary house soup or dessert. I understand all businesses are cutting where they can. The issue is when I asked about it, the waitress told me they haven't had it since Covid. Total BS. I've eaten there since my first review which was a year ago, and was served both every time we went. Just be honest about it and I would have been okay with the response. Lowered my rating as a result ☹️ I wish I had taken pictures of the food we ordered before we devoured it. This is my first time here and I have lived in Chicago all my life, and come to Chinatown frequently. It's been a while that a Chinese restaurant actually made the flat rice noodles crispy in the beef and broccoli chow fun dish. I mean I'm talking years! Their king mushroom and tofu dish was one of the best. I never leave Chinese restaurants without a doggie bag ... except we ate everything it was so good. This restaurant reminds me of the type of restaurant my family used to go to growing up. It's rare nowadays to find a Chinese restaurant that serves homemade soup and sweet dessert soup at no extra charge. Special memories 💛 My new favorite Chinese restaurant 😋

This was my first time here and I was going to give 2 stars to this restaurant while I was waiting for the food because they had me and my family waiting for 40 minutes to be served. However, I do have to say that the place was super packed and when the food came I was happily surprised with the exquisite flavor. The food was amazing, especially the mixed vegetables and the fried rice with chicken. Great food, hope they improve their service.

Hi guys; Today am going to share some information about a new favorite in Chicago Chinatown. Last weekend we visited Golden Bull for the 4th time and with the experience we had I can finally tell you this place is like heaven for Asian food lovers. A small family owned little restaurant with great friendly and genuine service that transports you right away to Hong Kong. The Cantonese cuisine here is as authentic as it can get. Trust me, I lived 9 years in Hong Kong and traveled all over Asia and I can guarantee you that the quality and authenticity of this place is outstanding with little competition. I am sharing three pictures from three different dishes you can’t miss if you try this place. The shredded cold chicken is to die for. The soft shell crab is spot on and the honey walnut shrimps are just addictive. Hope you enjoy as much as we do and definitely we will be back for more! Menu is generous and they have plenty of other very recomendable dishes that will blow your brains!
